Real Estate Agent Course

The Occupational Certificate Real Estate Agent at NQF 4 (SAQA ID 118714) is an accredited course specifically designed for professionals working in the property industry. For both the aspiring real estate practitioner as well as for existing practitioners who want formal certification.

The Real Estate Agent Course provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip property practitioners with a thorough understanding of the industry, best practices and the impact of the regulatory framework on the property profession.

Who should enrol in this programme?

The qualification appeals to both individuals looking to enter the real estate industry and those already working as property practitioners. It provides a learning pathway for new entrants, as well as existing practitioners, to become certified and compliant with industry regulations.

  1. Apply for a position as an Aspirant Candidate Property Practitioner with a Real Estate Agency
  2. Enrol with an Accredited Skills Development Provider for the Real Estate Agent Course
  3. Apply for your Fidelity Fund Certificate with the PPRA. You will need the following:
    • Create a profile on the PPRA Website here
    • Complete an application form with all your details and 7-digit reference number
    • Letter of Employment (indicating your Agency pin no- usually starting with an ‘’F’’)
    • Certified Copy of Identification
    • Proof of payment

 If you HAVE a prior qualification in Real Estate with an equivalency exemption* from the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority:

  1. Apply for a position as an Aspirant Candidate Property Practitioner with a Real Estate Agency
  2. Apply for your Fidelity Fund Certificate with the PPRA. You will need the following:
    • Create a profile on the PPRA Website here
    • Complete an application form with all your details and 7-digit reference number
    • Letter of Employment (indicating your Agency pin no- usually starting with an ‘’F’’)
    • Certified Copy of Identification
    • Proof of payment

*Applicable to aspirant candidate property practitioners who holds an exemption letter issued by the PPRA

Next Steps

  1. Complete the Knowledge Modules, Practical Modules and Workplace Experience Modules (done in your workplace).
  2. Complete assessments for all the modules. Your performance in each module will be recorded on a Statement of Results.
  3. The QCTO registers learners to write the External Integrated Summative Assessment or EISA at an accredited Assessment Centre.
  4. Once the QCTO approves the results, the learner will be issued with a Certificate.

Requirements for enrolling in this programme?

The Occupational Certificate: Real Estate Agent at NQF 4 requires that you have a good command of the English language, a solid foundation in Mathematics and comply with the requirements outlined above.

To qualify for this programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed prior learning up to a minimum level equivalent to NQF 3 (equivalent to Grade 11)
  • Competency in the English language and Mathematical Literacy

Important steps to follow to ensure you meet the requirements to complete the Qualification.

  • You need to join a Real Estate Agency Firm.
  • Register with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority under guidance of you Real Estate Agency
  • Apply for and pay for your Fidelity Fund Certificate

Programme duration and structure

During the 12 months of learning, you will spend 6 months completing. the needed theoretical and practical learning, followed by 6 months of workplace-based learning where you will work under supervision of a qualified property practitioner.

Required time spent learning

To successfully complete this programme, you will need to invest approximately 1500 hours in your learning over the 12-month period. This includes all your online classroom learning, completion of practical tasks and the time you spend learning in the workplace.

Online learning

(6 months)

Learning is delivered via our online learning environment and includes all your learning resources as well as regular contact sessions where you can talk with our industry experts.

To make sure you can balance the demands of the workplace and your learning, your learning material is always available and accessible online.

Workplace learning

(6 months)

While in the workplace, you will be required to complete specific tasks and activities to demonstrate your proficiency in applying what you’ve learnt in a real-world setting.

This is done alongside your mentor who works with you and gives guidance while you complete all your workplace-based learning activities.
